Maple calls itself a family assistant. Its public product puts a shared calendar, to-dos, chores, meals, groceries, and notes in one place, with routines that can set work up on a daily or weekly rhythm. It is aimed at the mental load of running a household, and it tries to carry a lot of that load at once. Its site now says Maple will sunset on 31 December 2026.
Moving from Maple
Maple closes on 31 December 2026, and its data is deleted after that. Maple recommends exporting your data now. It does not say in what format, so check the export when you get there.
Ok Donkey can take over the recurring jobs that must happen, such as bins, medicine, pickups, and pet feeding, and share them with the family. It does not replace the calendar, meals, groceries, the inbox, notes, or AI planning. For those, keep a calendar or list app.
To move one job over:
- Make the reminder for that job.
- Invite the family by email.
- Choose who goes first.
Ok Donkey carries one piece of it: did the thing actually get done? It does not plan meals, read a family inbox, or keep the grocery list. It raises an alarm-style alert and keeps going until someone on the event taps Done. Maple’s product pages describe lists, assignment, and routines. They do not describe that repeating nag, or an escalation when the first person stays quiet.
Choose Maple if
You want the wider assistant (diary, lists, meals, groceries) and routines that lay the chores out for you, while Maple is still available. Its site says it sunsets on 31 December 2026.

Maple can keep pickup on a family to-do next to the rest of the day. Ok Donkey’s whole job is the pickup: one person is nagged at 15:00, the other is brought in if it is not marked done, and one tap tells both of them it is handled.

Is Maple still available?
Until 31 December 2026. Maple’s site says it has been acquired and will sunset then. After that Maple is closed and its data is deleted, so export anything you want to keep first.
Will Ok Donkey plan meals as well?
No. Meals, groceries, and a calendar stay out, so the nag can stay the whole product.
